  1. Load Balance Relay Servers Assigned by Location

Rather than forcing a sysadmin to manually assign relay agents to machines - which is the only way to meet the <=100 machine per server requirement - build a Relay Server load balancer into the main server.

    Example:

Allow each machine to know that its location (NYC, for example) has more than one relay assigned to that location (NYCRELAY1 and NYCRELAY2 and NYCRELAY3, for example). Have each machine check in the list alphabetically from top to bottom, and each relay should only allow 100 connections. When they hit the max, have the workstation check the next server in the list,…

  2. Agent "Pull" model with less dependency on active connection to Server

The current Server-Agent model is largely a "Push" architecture rather than a "Pull" architecture - i.e. the scan/remediation jobs are entirely triggered/handled by the LanGuard server or relay agent.

Unfortunately, this almost defeats the point of an agent-based approach, since there are a lot of real-time operations required between agent and server.

I would like to see a future version of LanGuard evolve to a point where the agent is much more autonomous and that operates more on a "Pull" model:
    1) Policy is defined on the server
    a) Server pushes policy update out to any reachable Agent
    b) On…

  3. Include Vulnerability check for Fortinet and Watchguard devices

You could include Vulnerability assessment for Fortigate ad Watchguard network devices. This is a reason forour company to renew and upgrade the GFI languard current license.

  4. Custom software’s deployment scheduling issue

We deploy lots of custom software using GFI languard, but we are unable to find the option where we can deploy the custom software in real time like GFI does it for Patching, we would like to have this feature included in the product

  5. No real time deployment for patches as well as Software

When patches are deployed or scanning is initiated, if the selected system goes out of network or not turned on the process fails, and administrator has to restart the task manually, it is a hectic and overload the administrator day to day activity, we wanted to have the intelligence on agent or server side, which automatically detect or agent automatically pull the task or policy created for it from server as an when the system is available for which the policy or task is deployed.

  6. Need to have feature to create reports using sql queries

OperatingSystem | Hostname IP | Status | BulletinID | DatePosted | Title | Severity | EndDateTime | logged on user

Need to have report in above format which is currently unavailable.

So our recommendation is to provide sql like GUI where user can select the choice of columns he wants to have in reports and generate reports of his choice, you can refer to the Landesk product where they provide queries for users to create different reports based on options they have in their database, and it is included in the GUI hence a person who does not know SQL…

  8. Make the "reboot" radio button work for Linux boxes after remediation actually work

Before performing remediation, in the "After Deployment" tab, "Reboot the target computers" does not work for linux servers per Case# GFI-161219-443638. So at this point, we are forced to use VMware or create custom scripts to do the reboots for us. It would be really great if that function worked on the linux boxes.

  9. Block patches by minor versions

Block patches by minor versions such as blocking Java 8 Update 112 but allow Update 102 for all Java 8 users.

  10. Support for Symantec Endpoint Protection 14

When will Symantec Endpoint Protection 14 be added as Antivirus? It was released recently and LANguard doesn't recognize it as valite AV.

  12. Support for Amazon Linux

Amazon Linux (a fork of CentOS) is not yet supported by LanGuard. It uses the yum package manager.

  13. Apple Mac OSX Agent Support

Please create an agent for Apple Mac OSX. As at present we only have the option for network scans, so this create unnecessary network traffic and performance of scans are slow

  14. It's time for a better configurable Linux Agent

We need a better Linux monitoring agent with an editable .conf file to manually correct where/how checks are gathered for delivery to the dashboard.

Unlike Windows servers, we have a lot of options out there. Instead of statically mapped checks, define the check in a config file that we can edit so simple checks like disk space can be pointed at /dev/sda1 or we can point NIC monitoring at the correct spot. This shouldn't be too difficult, but it's going to require Languard engineers to understand that Linux syadmin's are 10x more likey to want to "get under the hood"…

  15. Ability to audit changes made to the Languard Configuration

This gives the ability to generate a report detailing the changes made for auditors to verify scan rules are not switched off.

  18. Missing Security Updates: More Options for Update Timestamp

I would like more options to search for Update Timestamp. Currently, you can only search for machines out of patches for last three months, last year, or older then one year. How about older then six months? Or better yet, a custom date search field?

  19. Allow to add computers with FQDN

This limitation is existing in the version before as well, however I recommend to allow adding new computers (Dashboard - Entire Network - Add more computers - Add computers manually) with the full FQDN, because especially in multi domain environments it's essential to use the fqdn instead of the netbios name. The limitation I think is coming that we only allow to add the Netbios name (15 characters).

  20. Set a "Timeframe" option under "Vulnerability Assessment options

In our environment, we have a 2 week window of testing patches. This forces us to go through and deselect any patches that we know are in this timeframe when deploying patches to systems. If we were able to create a scanning profile that allowed us to detect all patches outside of a current date (the current options are Last Month, Last Year, and Older Than one Year) it would be much easier for us to just scan our entire network with this scan, and scan our test systems for all missing patches. This would keep us from having to…
