  1. Administrator email

I need by the email notification 2 separate fields
    To and From
I like to send mails to an address other than that from which it comes.
    Example: From XYZ@customer.com to support@mycompany.com

  2. Originating IP Address Visibility

We need to be able to see the originating IP address for all malware-containing email. Currently, the originating IP address is completely unavailable.

This is a security software product, and yet the the most basic item of an email, the originating IP address, is not available, at all, anywhere! How do you expect accurate forensics to be conducted? How can we trace down where malware actually came from? Domain names can be easily spoofed. IP addresses are much more difficult to spoof.

This should have been built in since day one!

  3. Greylisting

I've had numerous legitimate emails greylisted for more than 24 hours because, apparently, the sending domain is resending from different email servers. I've seen this with gmail numerous times. A 24+ hour delay is too long and has forced me to bypass the greylist filtering for all popular email domains (gmail, yahoo, hotmail, mac.com). I would ask that:
    1. Greylisting be modified to look at the domain name rather than the ip address of the email server
    2. If that's not possible then this behavior should be explicitly detailed in GFI documentation and a list of email domains should be…

  6. Add whitelisting options for decompression engine

I've got a client that gets a monthly bank email with a password protected zip file but the Check password protected archives option in the decompression engine does not have whitelisting options so each month i have to manually remove this from the quarantine.
Please add whitelisting options for decompression engine

  7. whitelist for advanced content filtering

I was excited to see that I could now filter emails for specific things in the headers by creating a rule in advanced content filtering. I used this quite a bit back when I used Vipre Email Security. But I discovered a problem with there being no whitelist for it. I read in the manual that the advanced content filtering doesn't take the whitelist into account and it does not have its own. I would really like that feature added for it.

  8. Content Filtering AFTER Spam Filtering, not before! or OPTION

Content Filtering is currently processed BEFORE Spam Filtering. However since the new way of malware is included in .zip files, I have decided to BLOCK .zip, .7z files. Since this is possibly a legit form of sending emails that our vendors do use, I have a user notification of the quarantine so they can email me if needed to release it. I would 'not' want an end user access to the quarantine to release as someone else noted.. I just don't trust the end user to make that judgement call, as too many people decide to click these malware emails…

  9. Attachement Filtering with Whitelist options

I have a few scenario's when I have Mailesentials to block zip files via the content filtering (attachement) option to avoid viruses and 0 day threats from entering the system. (more reliable than a/v scanning) On some occasions there may be emails with valid zip files attached that get quarantined due to this policy, this would have to be manually released and checked on occasions. With enabling the whitelist feature this has no impact on this filtering option. I would like to see a whitelist function feature for content filtering to enable a email/domain or IP to be trusted with…

    Thanks all for your feedback

I would like to ask some questions regarding the usage of Attachment filtering.

    - Do you have Notify Local Recipient enabled? This way intended recipients are notified?
    - Do you have Notify Local Administrator enabled? This way the administrator can receive an email and easily approve?
    - Are such exclusions intended for specific recipients or external recipients? Eg you can already exclude internal recipients from rules.
    - What type of attachments are these? Zip Files? Office Files? PDF files?

  10. Stop mail flow on upgrade

Provide the option to stop mail flow when performing an upgrade to MailEssentials. During the upgrade, MailEssentials is un-installed, therefore spam emails will go through unscanned until the product is upgraded.

  11. Spam Quarantine Review on IPAD

As we go increasingly mobile, several of our users are now traveling with only an ipad. However, when trying to review quarantined email through the web browser, we have found no browser on the ipad that has scroll bars allowing the user to scroll right or down. Either modifying the web page so that it is ipad friendly or creating a specific ipad app to review quarantined email would be helpful.

  12. Block Zip Files Less Than 500Kb

In GFI Mail Essentials could we have the option to block Zip files less than 500Kb? The reason being that we find all zip files containing viruses are under 500Kb and any Zip over this size is most likely to be genuine.

  13. notifications

I've noticed that when e-mails are blocked because of anti-phishing rules, we have no warnings.

It would be great that we can choose quarantine e-mail and also be warned... As per Content filtering, a notification can be sent to the administrator.

In case of legit e-mails destined to your boss (by example :-) ) we could respond faster and approve!

In our case, an e-mail was sent from Amazon (as requested) to update the password account and each time was tagged as phishing...

    Thanks.

  14. E-mail addresses instead of public folders

Can we have e-mail addresses/mailboxes that users can forward spam, genuine, etc. e-mails to instead of drag/dropping to public folders, which Exchange and Outlook are progressively depreciating. Public Folders in Outlook 2010 are a nightmare, and it means users don't find it easy to report spam e-mails that are getting through the filters.
e.g. forward either .eml messages or have the processing engine recognise forwarded messages when sent to thisisspam@domain.com or thisisgenuine@domain.com

  15. GFI Mailessentials Dashboard Log

Going through the dashboard log, I wish you added some more information. '1' you have 'sender' but that necessarily isn't the 'from' field'. Please add the 'from' field or add an option where you can choose the fields you want. '2', please add an option to show 10,20,30,50,100 instead of having 140 pages to go through. '3'. Please add better filters. I would like to filter by scan result details, such as 'the blocked' reason... not sure all 'blocked'. so if I want to see all messages blocked by spamrazer, or spoofed email, or directory harvesting, I can filter out…

  16. Personal whitelist/blacklist managed by IT

Real world scenario with a global company with diverse user base, an end user wants to add a blocked sender to his personal blacklist. Its a newsletter he receives as part of a Distribution list in Exchange, but to him its spam. He can't unsubscribe without impacting the entire group of recipients, so he just wants to personally block the address. In Vipre for Exchange he could just copy a copy of the message to a mailbox sub-folder, but in Mail Essentials it seems a web interface is the only option. This is very difficult for our user base because…

  18. add more info to Dashboard LOG

In the Dashboard Log, you should add as much info as possible to the 'info/details' section. We are getting hit by some spammer that is routing through our server somehow. Either he is authenticating on a compromised user account or a machine is infected. In the dashboard log, it would be nice to be able to see what 'IP' it is coming from, either internal (affected machine) or external IP (some machine routing through us), this way I can block it appropriately. Currently it is a witchhunt trying to figure out where these messages are coming from.

  19. Relax greylisting IP rules to reduce false positives.

When legitimate emails come from large organisations the retry attempts can come from different IP addresses and thus never make it through the greylist. The greylist is great and very effective but many organisations cannot tolerate any legitimate mails bouncing as rejected. Alllow the facility to relax the IP matching to a subnet, or turn it off altogether doing the filtering just based on sender and recipient, this should be nearly as effective.

  20. MailEssentials 2012 Quarantine Digest Report Approve Link

With regards the changes to the MailEssentials 2012 Quarantine Digest Report, the new report features an 'Approve' link next to each email to have the emails released from quarantine. All users receiving the report have this option and, therefore, any user may potentially approve any email whether it's spam or not.

What I would like to see in a future update is to have the option to control which users may automatically approve an email while selecting other users who, on clicking the 'Approve' link, an approval request is sent to the administrator account or some other email account to…
