    Robert,

I'm not exactly sure what you're after here.

Are you after filtering spam based on sender display name? by blacklisting display names, for example?

Or are you after filtering emails in the dashboard by sender display name? (which is already available BTW).

    Hi

Such viruses should be blocked by the Trojan and Exe Scanner or the Virus Scanning Engines.

The idea of using the POP protocol is that emails are not left on the server but are deleted once downloaded.

This could essentially present a threat to your users. AV updates are set to 1 hour by default so that they update as frequently as possible.

If emails are to be skipped from scanning these can be added to the Whitelist.

The whitelist plugins should have a higher priority by default to SpamRazer so emails should be skipped automatically.

This is not possible due to how Exchange works. Some scan agents are at SMTP level while others at transport level.

SMTP level filters are executed first so there is no way to have them run after the Transport rules.

Allowing users to access the Malware quarantine would present a security breach as inexperienced users can end up viewing malicious content which should have been blocked.

The question I would like further details on is why do you block zip files in general, if they are heavily used in the organization? Any zip files which have malicious code can be blocked by the virus scanning engines and zip as spam is blocked by the anti-spam the rest should be valid zip file attachments.

For a refresh to the quarantine we suggest you use RSS feeds.

The RSS feeds provide live updates to the quarantine and can easily list new items, with the auto-refresh functionality built in.

The ReportsMigration.exe tool can be used already to migrate different MDB files to one firebird file. The tool requires the file to the MDB file as one of the arguments. The resultant reporting data is added to the active database.

Please note that only databases starting from GFI MailEssentials 2012 are supported.

I would also advise that if the firebird is expected to be very large (greater than 7GB) one should opt for Microsoft SQL Server (or Express) to avoid performance issues.

    Hi

Please note that email notifications are sent instantly and not on a schedule.

Only Quarantine Digests and Spam Digests are sent on a schedule.

    Hi

What rule do you have defined that is triggering this block?

What version of GFI MailEssentials do you have installed?

If it's the attachment filtering you can create rules that only match file extension, file signature or both from the Options pane in the rule definition.

What you can do is in the rule properties, check the options panel and select Filter by: Extension only

This will force the blocking to be done based just on the extension and not on the file signature.

Another feature which is being implemented soon, is the capability of adding custom alerts based on bandwidth volume, websites browsed etc, such that if a user has consumed too much bandwidth, one or more people will immediately get notified.

    Ronald,

we plan on making the policies apply using a Rule Engine in the near future.

This is now supported with WebMonitor 2012, where a number of arrays can log to the same logging database.

Although this is currently not possible, we now have the possibility to be alerted when a user has downloaded a specific amount.

Sara, I believe that you can do what you are requesting by creating an additional policy rather than by using the exceptions. So your exceptions would be part of a policy which is executed at a higher priority such that these exceptions are applied.

You can use the Activity Dashboards, filter to the user / website you want and then use the Event Log. All fields are sortable here.
