Too short auto reply field in filters
If you choose the action to send an auto reply in definig a filter, there is a limitation to 128 Characters. This is enough for a Tweet but not for a serious auto-reply. The text, we use for these auto repies is about 1,500 chars long.

I think this counts as a bug. No one in their right mind would limit an auto-reply to 128 characters by design in a modern email system. Perhaps it was confused with the mechanism used for sending SMS messages.
The good news is that you can switch back to the old webmail client and enable your auto-reply rules there.

Yes this is quite an annoyance - as in the classic client, there is no such limitation. I don't think this is an intended feature limit, more a "let us limit this input-value just to be safe". Please Please: fix this in the next release.
