  1. Remote console for Languard

It would be very useful to have a remote console that we can install on a management workstation rather than having to remote control the server GFI Languard is installed on.

  2. Web UI

I was astonished at the fact that LanGuard does not offer a Web UI or something of the sort for remote administration.

Web UI capabilities should be added - It is not good practise for me to have "Operators" or the like to be logged into my servers using Admin Privileges just to Administer GFI LanGuard.

  3. LanGuard: multiple LanGuard installations

Installation of multiple LanGuard as a Service and managed from one Management Interface.

In larger environment at the moment every Installation needs to be configured by itself. It would be a great feature if it is possible to install multiple LANguard "Scanner" which can be managed from one Management Interface.

  4. Enable TLS 1.2 support in LanGuard and Central Management Server

Central Management Server requires TLS 1.0 to connect to the SQL server hosting its database. This is a massive security hole.

This is the error in Windows on a server which has TLS 1.0 disabled.

"An unknown connection request was received from a remote client application, but none of the cipher suites supported by the client application are supported by the server. The SSL connection request has failed."

  5. Add SUDO account for LINUX SCANNING and REMEDIATION activities.

Using ROOT account in linux for Scanning and remediation is an security breach as per the organizations policies. Instead of using ROOT its better to add SUDO / Other account for doing all activities in GFI LanGuard.

    Thanks,
    Rawi

  6. Concurrent sessions of Languard

Please add the ability to Allow concurrent sessions of GFI LanGuard to run when administrators are remote desktoped into the server running Languard. Currently only one session is allowed to run and makes multitasking difficult with other admins.

  7. Support for Windows 10 Anniversary Addition (Build 1607)

I'm getting a lot of false positives after upgrading to Windows 10 Anniversary Addition (Build 1607). Looks like LANguard is only looking at builds up to 1511 on a number of rules. LANguard is mostly accurate, but some rules only look at Windows versions that equal a number (1511), rather than versions that are equal to or greater than (1607 is greater than 1511, but not equal to 1511, so LANguard says it's missing a patch, even though it's not).

  11. Languard NSS: Save custom software deployment steps in xml

I have some programs that don't install well with Group Policy but LanGuard deploys just fine. Unfortunately, every time I need to push one of these installations, I must start from scratch because there's no way to save the details and load them later.

  12. IP Exclusions on Scan

It would be nice if you could setup IP exclusions when doing a ranged scan.

  13. Languard Debug Methods

Create Tools/options: "Debug On" and "Debug Off" which takes care of those painful 13 steps that you expect the customer to manually go through when debugging:
    "Debug On" can:
Set Registry key, turn off service, delete files, restart service

    "Debug Off" can:
Trigger troubleshooter, Create Folder, Copy File, Zip, Name, ftp upload to you, reset registry key, restart service.

It is way too much to ask from a customer the way it is and I would rather type this long suggestion and go look for another product than go through that again.

  14. LanGuard Enhancement

I would like to be able to export my scan results filtering data into an excel document. Right now it is only available to export to HTML or MHT. Where as the report center allows you to do the excel format but does not give you the ability to pick exactly what the report is going to show, it only allows you to make a custom report based on defaults and i do not want pages of useless information.

Provide a way to disable non-microsoft patches from being deployed automatically along with your current scan/remediation schedule. Languard 9.5

  16. Add additional recurrence patterns for scheduled scans

I’d like to setup 8 scan jobs referencing Microsoft’s Patch Tuesday as the start date which is always the 2nd Tuesday of the month.
Here’s my example for the month of June.

    June 2010
    Microsoft’s Patch Tuesday (the 8th)

Scan1: Week 1 Production Servers Scheduled Scan (the 9th)
Scan2: Follow-up to Week 1 Production Server Rollout (the 14th)

Scan3: Week 2 Production Servers Scheduled Scan (the 16th)
Scan4: Follow-up to Week 2 Production Server Rollout (the 21st)

Scan5: Week 3 Production Servers Scheduled Scan (the 23rd)
Scan6: Follow-up to Week 3 Production Server Rollout (the 28th)

    Scan7: Week 4 Production…

  18. deploy multiple patch types all at once

Currently, I need to perform "Deploy Microsoft Service Packs", "Deploy Microsoft Patches", and "Deploy non-Microsoft Patches" individually. It would be more convenient if I could process these all at the same time, maybe by marking a checkbox next to each to filter which types of patches should be deployed.

  19. detect missing high priority microsoft updates

LanGuard automatically detects/deploys Microsoft security patches but does not in general automatically detect/deploy other high priority Microsoft updates. For that you need Windows Update or WSUS and stated in the link below. Maybe making LanGuard fully replace WSUS would be too much work, so I suggest at least a compromise: allow LanGuard to detect possible missing high priority updates by somehow having LanGuard monitor the Windows Update service to determine/report the date that Windows Update was last checked and whether any updates are pending (but not yet installed) in the Windows Update queue. Maybe this is very easy to implement,…

  20. Adding another reboot option to Languard patch deployment

As we know most patch deployments require a machine reboot to be effective. It means that if the machine is not rebooted, the machine will stay in a vulnerable and insecure status. For the moment you can control this feature in GFI Languard in two different ways:
    1) You can reboot the machine right after the patch deployment, leaving the user with the risk of loosing his unsaved data.
    2) You can let the user to choose his ideal time to do that. Unfortunately with this option the user can alternatively choose to reboot the machine at his appropriate time…
