  1. kaspersky issues

with the recent issues with Kaspersky and the banning of Kaspersky on government information systems a different av engine might be a good idea.

we are aware of this issue, and unfortunately, only Kaspersky is supported.

One important thing to note is that the OneGuard AV agent does not communicate with any Kaspersky servers and uses GFI as it’s servers to communicate to.

  2. Controller failover

Allow for a failover/failback controller for agents. Currently if a controller is available only on LAN. There's no way for a remote agent to update without access to private network.

If all the controller(s) in a company could have WAN-available failover controller. Administrators could ensure that endpoints always have access to updates and endpoint control.

  3. Deployable Controller

Provide a simple way to download and install a fully configured Controller installer. Having to manually touch every controller to configure it's connection is pretty labor intensive and not admin/user friendly.

  4. Add support for Linux clients (inventory + patching)

Not uncommon for SBS to have mixed environments.
A Linux agent would make the product a lot more interesting.

  6. Implement certificate-based security for communications

Instead of the cumbersome user/password for Platform/Controller/Agent communication, authenticate the communication with one or more public/private key pairs. This type of authentication is widely used, very secure and should pretty much eliminate any possible man in the middle attacks.

Another big positive is the configuration of communication would be much less cumbersome on for the OneGuard administrator.

  7. Edit configuration and view detailed status of Controllers on Platform

The controller settings should be editable within the Platform. There should never be a reason to have to remote into a controller to change a setting.
There also should never be a reason to log into a controller to check the status. There needs to be a detailed status page for all controllers. We should see not only last checkin, but also bandwidth saver status and service status (yes if it's not checking in, the service is down, but why not have a clear status indicator).
This would likely be best handled by a small service that connects securely to…

  8. Sort groups alphabeticall

Groups are listed in creation order instead of alphabetically. Since there is only one on sort order available it needs to be alphabetical.

Or simply add standard sorting options to the groups.

  9. Add "cd %~dp0" to the beginning of the client install script

The downloadable and deployable agent installer is a God send. I don't really trust the Controller deployment for every situation. However, adding one line to the beginning of the script would be immensely helpful.

    cd %~dp0
    msiexec.exe /i OneGuardAgent.msi /qb AGENTID="{1387...

This way, the install command will work no matter the current working directory.

  10. Enable 2 Factor Authentication

Please enable 2 factor authentication. It can be as simple as a an Oauth (Google Auth) wrapper like in Kerio Control, but it needs to happen soon. This product has deep hooks into client networks ... stored domain admin credentials, the ability to log into the platform as an domain Admin ... Authentication needs to be much more than a simple user and pass.

  11. 'Wake-on-LAN' for offline machines

If an admin wants to perform maintenance work in the network, but the user had previously shut down the machine, he could start that machine from the platform without physically pushing the button. I'm actually using WOL heavily in my networks :)

  12. Progress of patches installation

I suggest that when patches are being installed, some kind of progess is shown to the user. For example a "1 of 2" or a progress bar. It will be frustrating for the user when a policy has been triggered, and the user would have no clue how many patches are being installed and how many are left.

At the moment there is a kind of gif progress bar that does not give any indication how many patches have been installed, or how many are left. I think that this can be improved by showing proper patch installation progress.
