Kerio Connect

Welcome to our Kerio Connect feedback forum. Do you have an idea? Do you recognize a good idea when you see one? We want to hear from you!

How can we improve Kerio Connect?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

  1. Allow an account to be locked for sending exesive email

It would be nice if you could have accounts locked if they send more messages than allowed by the administrator. For instance a user could be limited to 100 messages in 1 hour. If they exceed that their account is locked and a email is sent the the administrator so they can investigate the situation. This would help prevent compromised computers from sending tons of spam through the mail server.

  2. SMTP service (port 25) wouldn't start because it was already in use with Exim4??

Just installed the Kerio Connect appliance. The SMTP service (port 25) wouldn't start because it was already in use with Exim4?? Room for improvement?

  3. Backwards compatibility for ActiveSync protocol

    https://manuals.gfi.com/en/kerio/connect/content/email-clients/activesync/setting-a-compatible-exchange-activesync-version-for-specific-mobile-devices-1799.html

In order to make ActiveSync backwards compatible for older versions, the online manual above suggest to manually make changes to the config file. Kerio Connect should be smart enough to detect the OS version on the mobile device and use the appropriate protocol version.

  4. Sending large attachments 2Gb

Sending large attachments like 2Gb or more. When someone add attachments which are more than 15Mb, system should remove attachments from mail, store it on server and add a link to that attachments and send mail to recipient with link. link will be accessible as it is setup on server an expiration date. This way users can send by email whatever they want.

  5. Visibility of Folder Items Count with Soft and Hard Caps

I would love to have a way of knowing if anyone is in violation of having more than X items in a folder. I’d like the ability to set a soft and hard cap with warnings to me and the user via email. Also some kind of warning in the admin console of the violation.

It would be great to have visibility of users' folder items count in the admin console. However, I don't want to navigate through everyone's folder looking for issues.

  6. Delay startup on macOS 10.10 and later

With macOS 10.10 and later, with Server installed, the system starts Postfix Master and listens on the SMTP ports (25, 587 etc.) for several seconds, EVEN if the Mail service is disabled in the Server.app. Thus Kerio Connect reports that it cant start listening on those ports, effectively disabling those services.

It would be great if Kerio Connect could delay startup or check again after a few seconds if it could listen on the services/ports marked as Automatic.

  8. activation of reverse DNS (PTR) check for Client and Server individually

Currently, the "reverse DNS (PTR) check" affects the Server and the Client IP.
If we deactivate the check of a Clients IP, also the Mail- Servers won't be checked.

In some cases, we don't want the Clients IP to be checked but we can't deactivate the option due we also would deactivate the needed Check of the servers

  9. Admin panel

    Hello Kerio improvement team!

I would like to suggest an improvement .

At the moment we can setup automatic Items clean-out for user via Admin panel as per following article:
    https://manuals.gfi.com/en/kerio/connect/content/server-configuration/accounts/maintaining-user-accounts-in-kerio-connect-1179.html

My suggestion is to implement functionality where this could be adjusted to a single sender or conversation.

For example: we should be able to setup a rule where messages or/and all conversation received from user@domain.com will be automatically permanently deleted without an option for recovery after set amount of time (30 days or so).

Let me know if you have any further questions.
    Regards
    Alex

  11. Anti Name-Spamming Feature

A new Anti-Spam feature would be nice: Incoming (external!) eMails should be checked against names of the users on the kerio server (not addresses!).

Our company get's some spam from completely external servers & unknown eMail addresses. Only the sender names are faked ones from our own employees - existing names from Kerio Connect. So the idea would be to check the received names against the names within Kerio. Additionally a whitelist would be great to allow name & address combinations from real existing second email addresses of members.

  12. Counter of unread messages on the taskbar for the WebMail

Starting with version 9.2.6, "Email preview ..." is displayed in the taskbar when using the WebMail. But before 9.2.6 there was a counter of unread mail, even if some message was chosen (!). Please, return the counter at least for the main window of the Kerio Connect client.

  13. Multilevel/Advanced attachment filtering

Kerio Connect 8.5.0 is now able to remove potentially malicious files from ZIP attachments.

It would be good to enhance this feature to allow:

    1. Multilevel (recursive) searching for malicious files inside ZIP/RAR archives. Example: a ZIP file contains another ZIP file and that ZIP file contains a virus (exe file). So there are 2 possibilities that You may consider:
    a. Reject archives containing archives (i.e. RAR file in ZIP file)
    b. Do a recursive search to a specific depth (either hard coded or defined by administrator) in archives and reject if a file with prohibited extension is found

    I…

  14. macOS Server to Kerio Connect migration tool

Apple suppresses some services in macOS Server. They recommends to switch to Kerio Connect. Make migration tool, wich can migrate emails, contacts and calendars form macOS Server to Kerio Connect. Or it can at least migrate calendars. I can't imagine how I'll manually converts all users.

  15. Central management of Calendar enabling and restricitons

At the moment it's only possible to enable calendar for other users, when the user is explicit opening his calendar via folder enabling for other uses. This is complicated and prevents of a central management.

So there should be a central admin-management for this

  16. filter attachments for the presence of macro's

A lot of virusses spread via macro's in Word-files (or Excel). Most clients however work with word-files as attachments on daily bases. They rarely send/recieve legit mails with macro's inside however. It would be nice to be able to block all word (or excel) files containing macro's.

I don't know if that should be an attachment-filter option or an antivirus option.

  18. What about Debian 9 (Stretch) support ??

Debian 9 (Stretch) is out now for quiet a while.
When can we expect a VM Appliance based on a actual version of Debian??

  19. Add Kerio Connect support to GFI Archiver and GFI OneConnect

We are looking for a solution to email archiving and business continuity planning and GFI OneConnect and GFI Archiver look like they would do what we are looking for. Are you planning on adding Kerio Connect support to those products.

  20. Create reminder for follow up on e-mail on Kerio Connect Client

This option is available in Outlook but not the Kerio Connect client. It is nice when you flag an e-mail for follow-up, to be able to set a time for it to remind you.
